Did you know that every week at Fusion we are working on a special list of vocabulary words with your Little? Well, it's true! We make sure to review, explain and utilize the words as often as possible throughout the week to help your Little have a comprehensive understanding of new words. We incorporate many games, stories and class lead art projects in order to help reinforce these words.

This week our words are:

Flight, Compass, alternator, airplane, Engine, cockpit, aviation, instruments, cabin, fuel and oil.

[cycloneslider id="30000-words"]

Seem like a lot? It's not! An average 2 year old will learn 10 new words a day! That means that only accounting for the NEW words your Little is learning 3,650 NEW WORDS a year!

Research shows the children who are spoken to at least 30,000 words a day show a direct correlation in their academic performance during their third-grade year! Not sure how many words 30,000 is? Try reading Dr. Seuss' the cat in the hat 18 times and you'll be in the vicinity. That's alot of words!

Furthermore, the children who were spoken to and read to have a direct correlation to their parents vocabulary. By the age of three a communicative family can share a staggering 12 million words with their toddler compared to the mere 4 million words of a noncommunicative family. To be clear, science references a noncommunicative family as a family that uses only "business language." Business language being only key phrases. For example: "Stop that." "Put that down." "Come here." Etc

I don't know about you but 8 million words more in my child's vocabulary feels like a huge academic advance, and Fusion is providing that for our Littles!!!

I will do my best to post our vocabulary list weekly so that you can plan on reinforcing these words with your Littles at home. With Fusion our academic advantage is undeniable and I for one couldn't be more grateful. Enjoy your dialogues! We are fostering now what we hope for in the future.
