The weather is cooling, the leaves are fluttering on warm, hot cocoa-scented winds, and sandals have been traded in for snug, toasty boots. Fall is upon us and with that comes one of my favorite Fusion Early Learning courses: When You’re Strange: The Brothers Grimm, Bizarre Nature & Offending the Senses! This month at Fusion our students will have the opportunity to challenge their senses; explore strange, new literary worlds; and trek across the globe in search of fantastic creatures!

fall at fusionThis week in the Green Room, Fusion Kids have been learning about carnivorous plant-life. Venus Flytraps, Sundews and Bladderworts (oh my!) will be examined up close and personal, allowing our students the opportunity to interact with some “hungry plants”.

In the Blue Room, we have been reading the classic Brothers Grimm tale of “Rumpelstiltskin”. While they may not learn how to “spin straw into gold”, our preschoolers will have the opportunity to engage in several activities related to this amazingly-titled tale!

Lastly, in our Red Room this week, students have been feasting their eyes on the surrealist works of Salvador Dali, as well as sideswiping their senses with “horrible” smells! Whether painting with “putrid” spices such as cinnamon and cumin, or recreating famous works of Dali, Fusion Kids have had a wonderfully wacky time experiencing new sights and smells!

We all know that the turn of the season signifies change. This year, for me, that change is a significant one. As I step into my role as the Director of Education for Fusion Early Learning, there could be no clearer a representation of the recent changes in my professional career. Adopting (and adapting) to this new role has allowed me to expand my relationships with both the phenomenal Fusion staff and the incredible families we serve. Where once I was a co-worker, I am now a mentor. I have gone from utilizing our unique curriculum, to the opportunity to mold and shape it for the generations of students to come. Still, nothing fills my heart with more joy than strolling into one of our sites to a chorus of “Mr. Dante!”, swiftly followed with an almost never-ending assault of hugs and high-fives from our students! These experiences have served to cement my desire to do more and be better, for both our Fusion families and staff, and it is my hope that I am able to continue earning those hugs and high-fives in the days, weeks, months and years to come. ~Mr. Dante
