As a parent you have what seems like a million things begging for your attention. Work deadlines, sports practices, music rehearsals and social events can all make for a hectic and busy life and sometimes your family needs to take a break from it all. A regular family night is a great way to slow down, regroup, spend quality time together and, most importantly, have fun! Here are some great ideas for your next family night!

Friday Night Movie and a Sleepover

Family Movie NightAfter dinner, blow up an air mattress in the living room or just put sleeping bags on the floor and have the kids get their pillows and stuffed animals from their rooms. Set up a popcorn bar in the kitchen with different toppings and seasonings and let each person make their popcorn just the way they want to! Pick a movie you already have, get one from Redbox or find one on Netflix and settle in. After the movie you don’t have to bed, just have a sleepover in the front room!

Pizza Night

Pizza NightWho doesn’t love pizza?! Everyone will love making a pizza and you’ll love having the night off from cooking. Set up a pizza toppings bar with all the usual toppings: pepperoni, cheese, olives, bell pepper, chicken, bacon crumbles, pineapple, ham, tomatoes, onion and any other family favorites. Give everyone their own personal size pizza crust and let them create their perfect pizza. Bake them and enjoy!

Backyard Camping

Backyard CampingYou don’t have to pack the car and travel a for long time to go camping! Camping in your backyard is a great option for a little stay-cation. Set up the tent in the backyard, eat dinner outside on a blanket, roast marshmallows over the BBQ or firepit, sing songs and/or tell stories, and watch the stars come out. All of the great parts of camping but with less mess and work—and the best part is you can use your own bathroom!

Have a Random Acts of Kindness Night

Have a Random Acts of Kindness NightYou will create some great memories and teach your child valuable life lessons when you spend an evening being nice to others. Go hold open doors for people. Pay for people’s coffee. Drop off a family night kit at another family’s house. Have kids call family members just to tell them “I love you.” Go put quarters in all the gum ball machines at your favorite restaurant or in the washers at a laundromat. Bake cookies to pass out to neighbors. The possibilities are endless!
